Day 2 - Monday 27th August

Life on the ‘high seas’ . . . Portsmouth – Bilbao

Distance – 850km

Overview . . .

We settled in for a lovely two-night sea voyage to Bilbao and planning for the weeks ahead.

All at Sea . . .

‘The majority’ of us had taken motion sickness tables which made us feel a bit drowsy – so I wasn't awake at about 4:00am wandering around the place.  Instead, I was wandering around at about 6:00am and I checked out the entire boat!

It was quite interesting as we docked at Roscoff - it looks like it would take quite a bit of skill and practice manoeuvring the boat into its special rear loading dock.  Meanwhile, the rest of the ‘crew’ slept soundly while all this was going on!

Early to rise and shine

All Hands on Deck . . .

I went back to the cabin at around 8:15am to start getting ready for breakfast.  We met up with the others at 9:00am and went to the Le petit Marche to get some cereal, milk, yogurt and an oat slice.  It filled the gap and we chatted about the upcoming ride some more and at various times we had the maps and other documentation out on the table for consideration.

There really isn't much to do on a ship - we took a look around at the various facilities on board, attended a whale watching talk and generally just hung out until it was lunch time . . . which was had in the upstairs salad bar sitting on an open air (but well protected) deck.

The happy crew hard at work!

Yet Another Stroll . . .

We took yet another stroll around to some other parts of the boat after lunch, including the stern lookout and other parts.  John and Liz eventually decided they would turn into pumpkins and they headed back to their cabin, while Chris and I went upstairs to see if we could see any whales or dolphins - which we didn't while I was there!

A little later Lorraine and I attended a talk about whisky and then I had 40 winks - and then we came out to sit in one of the lounges once again!  I am not sure about this being on a boat thing - we prefer to be out and about doing things!

We all saw a very fast moving dolphin or two and we enjoyed a lovely dinner in the ‘dining room’.
